Sable tower press is actively looking for book proposals from authors. Out primary audience are reenactors and living history participants. We expect authors will be involved in the same activities, and will have personal experience with the topics they are writing about. Sable Tower Press is interested in both full books, and more modest booklets. Booklets are a great way to get your feet wet as a new author. The Yeoman’s Guide
Sable Tower Press established the Yeoman’s Guide as a series of booklets. Each volume in the series will cover practical how-to instructions for a particular craft or art and include one pattern. Each booklet will contain from 20 to 40 pages. If you use other source material, you must cite it and provide a bibliography, but don’t let that scare you off. We will worry about proper formatting and other details for you. If you are a long-time artist, but a new author, this is a great way to share your skills with a wider audience.
What is a book proposal, and what should it contain?
A book proposal will convince us that you can deliver a quality text to us, and that people will purchase the completed book. To do this, your proposal should describe the book in detail, and tell us why you have the knowledge and skill to complete the work. This makes it a cross between a resume, a book outline, and a marketing plan. Obviously a proposal for a booklet will be much shorted than the proposal for a full book. You do not need to have a finished book before you submit a proposal. You will need to describe each chapter, and write an overview of the whole work. Please email your completed proposal to proposal@sabletower.com.

We will never ask authors to invest their own money in publishing their books. If we accept your work, we will offer you a straight percentage of sales. We hope you will be actively involved promoting your work, because that will benefit both you and us, but we earn our percentage by preparing your work for print and risking our money instead of yours.
